FAQ
Unfortunately, we are not able to ship at this time.
As designers, we prefer to use our designs and work with you to create something special for your event. With that said, it’s often extremely helpful to see cakes that you are drawn to and any inspiration that you may have.
If you do prefer that we create someone else’s work, please note we cannot guarantee it will be an exact replica due to artistic interpretation. Cake is art and all artists have their own techniques and different styles.
We do try our best to accommodate all forms of food allergies. We can create gluten-free, dairy-free, and nut-free cakes and pastries, however our
facility is not gluten-free, dairy-free, or nut-free. Please note there is no way to guarantee 100%-free cross-contamination.
Unless there is an overwhelming amount of people with the same dietary restriction at your event to make your entire cake completely allergy specific, we recommend providing you with an additional 6” cake gluten-free or vegan cake for $30.00 for those guests to enjoy.
Not at this time. We work out of Michael Brown’s Catering Kitchen, licensed and insured, and do not make cakes for daily sales. Everything is baked to order; therefore, we do not have premade cakes. All cakes must be ordered in advance and delivered or picked up by appointment.
Fondant is a sugar dough that mainly consists of confectioners sugar. It has a porcelain-like finish and is typically on most special occasion cakes because it allows the design to be more ornate than buttercream. Fondant also acts as a protective covering and keeps the cake moist and delicious. All carved cakes must be covered in fondant.
1. Fresh Flowers: We will coordinate with your florist to put flowers on your cake. They are responsible for the quality, quantity, and type of flowers they provide and must ensure they are pesticide free. There are certain flowers that are toxic and should not be placed on any cake. Flowers treated with pesticides or those containing sap or pollen are unsafe for placement on your cake. You should contact your florist to discuss the safety of using fresh flowers. If you choose fresh flowers for you cake, we ask that the florist have the flowers readily available for us to place on your cake upon our delivery arrival.
2. Buttercream Flowers: Created with a piping bag out of buttercream. Rustic looking and pretty.
3. Sugar Flowers: Handmade and beautiful, these flowers are created out of sugar paste and are intended to look like the real thing. Sugar flowers will last forever as a lovely keepsake if stored properly. They are an additional cost.
Yes. Faux tiers are a great way to add complexity and height to your cake. Faux tiers are comparable in price to real cake.
Some cakes and pastries can be picked up from us; however, we cannot accept any liability for any damages once a cake has left our kitchen. We recommend that we deliver any tiered or celebration cakes since they can be damaged in transit.
Delivery charges are calculated based on mileage and the time it takes us to deliver and set up the cake. We will work directly with your venue, caterer or planner to coordinate the delivery the day of your event.
If you have a specific color scheme you are using for your event, we will do our best to match the colors exactly. Computer and phone screens often distort color and are not the most reliable sources to get accurate color information. Furthermore, it is up to you to provide us with a color swatch to use as reference.
